- Overview
- The Skill Development & Employment Division plays a key role in advancing policy initiatives across the themes of skill development, employment, livelihood creation and social security. It seeks to generate evidence and influence policy in the key areas of advancing skill development, labour force participation, employability and future-readiness.
The Division undertakes evidence-based research, knowledge creation and dissemination to strengthen India's skill development and employment ecosystem. It works closely with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Ministry of Labour and Employment, State Governments, academia, industry, subject experts, think tanks, skill training providers and other stakeholders to address emerging challenges and opportunities in the sector.
The Division's work is guided by the vision of enabling India to become the skill capital of the world by 2047. To support this objective, it undertakes policy research and analytical studies across priority themes, including reimagining skilling through an integrated architecture, future of work, enhancing women’s labour force participation and non-traditional livelihoods for women and girls, strengthening the care economy, revitalizing apprenticeships, advancing skill development for international mobility, among others. - Core Functions
